Oats are a food I’ve had to teach myself to love over time, but now they are my go-to breakfast. They are fiber and protein rich, a great source of energy to start your day with. Steel cut oats are minimally processed and provide a better texture if you’re not a fan of the regular oatmeal “sogginess”. Paired with the right toppings, they are delicious, and I love the hands-off Instant Pot cooking method!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dry steel cut oats
- 1 cup plant milk
- 1 cup water
- Toppings, as desired
Directions:
- Spray the bottom of your Instant Pot insert with oil to prevent the oats from sticking.
- Place oats, milk, and water inside, stir to combine.
- Close the lid, seal the valve, and cook on high pressure for 4 minutes. Let it naturally release for 10 minutes, then open the valve.
- Fluff with a fork, and serve with desired toppings and plant milk.
Great flavour variations:
- Add a spoonful each of peanut butter and chia jam for a PB&J party.
- Add chopped apples, dates, and sprinkle cinnamon for a comforting bowl.
- Add a spoonful of almond butter, sprinkle of cinnamon, and chopped banana for a classic.
- Hemp seeds are a great addition for a protein & fiber boost to every bowl.
