First off, I want to say I’m no hair expert. I have a very simple wash/condition routine, throw some argan oil in from time to time, but otherwise I leave my hair alone. Too much product is damaging and expensive.
One thing I love to do a couple times a month is a deep conditioning hair mask made with a single pantry staple: coconut oil. I know, I know, that magical hippie-s***. It works!
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp solid organic virgin coconut oil (2 tbsp for thick or long hair)
- Dash of ACV (apple cider vinegar)
- 2 drops lavender essential oil
Directions:
- Mix ingredients together until well combined.
- Apply liberally to hair, massaging into scalp. Leave on for at least 1 hour.
- Lather, rinse, repeat with your preferred shampoo. May need to repeat a few times to get all the oil out. Condition if you like, but I don’t after this mask.
I’ve included ACV and lavender in this recipe because they have pH balancing properties for your scalp, so all together it truly makes my hair and scalp feel amazing! However, I often just use coconut oil when I’m short on time or just being lazy.
This small self-care effort will leave you with ultra-soft hair that lasts up to 4 days without another wash!
