DIY Hot Chocolate Mix

Makes roughly 2.5 cups of mix.

Hot chocolate is a winter comfort staple, especially for those who don’t enjoy coffee, or for kids. Here’s a snippet of the ingredients in a leading store bought hot chocolate:

Immediate red flags: MODIFIED, HYDROGENATED, ARTIFICIAL. With the rest of ingredients being fillers, emulsifiers, and saturated fat, this is a product that will have negative consequences within our bodies, especially when consumed regularly. Luckily, it’s not hard to make your own powder that’s as easy as mixing with a hot liquid of choice, just like the processed mix!

Dairy-free, a better-choice sugar, and antioxidant-rich cocoa powder make this alternative simple and healthier for your gut.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup coconut or soy milk powder
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup coconut sugar

Directions:

  1. Whisk or blend ingredients together.
  2. Store in an air-tight glass jar.

To make a drink: mix 2 tablespoons with 1 cup warm water, milk of choice, or holiday eggnog. Also great mixed in coffee for a mocha treat!
